We only had 1 week off before the start of the spring quarter--busy busy week. we got all the kits in and all the new textbooks. Orientation sucked, barely anyone came and then we were stuck with handing out the kits the first week of class and that is always a crazy time in the store to begin with and then add the newbies coming in. i have already found my problem student for this quarter--older lady, blonde, big hair, big boobs, big butt and not dressing age appropriate. if you've got the body to wear the tight little track suit, by all means, wear it, if you're 40 pounds over weight and things are hangin out--put some damn clothes on!!! Age appropriate doesn't mean frumpy, you can still look good without looking trampy or trying to recapture your lost youth. She is in photography and i gave her the kit on friday and opened it up and showed her all the fragile stuff and everything was OK--not broken...she ame in on tuesday and claimed that the graduates were cracked and non one showed her them...Christopher was there when i gave her the kit and saw me go through it with her. she's also been returning the textbooks she doesn't need, but she already wrote in one and wants to return it...we only take back new books, not used. oy.
I am also on a new schedule for the spring quarter, i have to open 4 days 7:15-4:15...did i mention i am not a morning person? I am looking at the bright side, or trying to at least, i get home by 5pm. i can relax, cook a nice meal and have time to do things. i can get some of the things i have neglected done, like house work and answering letters, and still have time to relax.
i've been so busy at work and so tired when i get home that i haven't been reading as much. i am already at 26 books, but seemd to have stalled out. I had 3 books that i started that didn't catch or keep my interest and totally wasted my time...Sister Noon, THe Observations and i can't remember what the other one was. I just read 2 more by Christopher Moore: You Suck: A Love Story, and A Dirty Job. Both were funny, but not as good as Lamb. I read Brother Odd by Dean Koontz, not knowing that there were 2 before it, so i just got those from the library too. Koontz usually drives me nuts, but i am enjoying the "Odd" books...parts are creepy and parts are funny--he's being haunted by Elvis. i think there is a book before You Suck, because there were references made to past happenings that i just didn't get...must investigate.
I have The Canterbury Tales to read, but i doubt i will get to it before the play...the dean koontz books need to be back at the library on saturday and i have 3 more i picked up...it's a disease. There are so many that i want to read and not enought time. i can't read on the bus in the morning because i have an idiot driver who taps the breaks and lurches the bus down the street...i'm usually very nauseous by the time i get to town. People need to stop recommending books to me too! Too many books, too little time!
Was off of work on good friday and met Hez and Jason for coffee and a bit of retail therapy. Handsome, married men should be banned from coffee shops. There was a very attractive man at caribou, but his wedding ring was blinding. I can overlook the NY Rangers jersey he was wearing, but not the wedding ring. grrr. how am i supposed to have any fun?
Went to walmart and they had a bunch of stamp/scrap stuff on clearance. I got a few things but didn't go overboard. some 5x5 cards, a few stickers and a 12x12 divided carrying case. i am sure i could have done some damage if i had some more $$, but i need to use the stuff i have. i really want tog et some vellum overlays and different sizes of chip board letters, but there isn't a scrapbook place or any other craft places around here. again, i will work with what i have.
We went to Tai Pai for lunch--yummy! Bill met us there and took Jason home and Hez took me home. It was a good day! I finished stamping my new book and puttered around the house the rest of the day. I gave my grandma a ton of stamps at chistmas so my book was outdated--i have a 3 ring 5x8 binder that i stamp all the images in so that i know what i have and i don't buy the same thing over again (i have done this), so i needed to do it over again. i also got some stamps for my birthday and they needed to be added. i set up my kitchen table for the weekend for stamping.
i need to make cards like nobody's business. i have a lot of blank photo cards, but no birthday cards left and no get well or anniversary cards either. i stamped all afternoon yesterday and plan on doing the same thing this afternoon. i stamped a bunch of images that i can sit and color in when watching tv and then assemble later. my fingers are ink stained all sorts of pretty colors! i look like i tie-dyed my hands! This weekend for stamping and maybe Memorial Day weekend for scrapbooking? i need to get a lot of pictures printed for scrapping. i am going to collect all that i want on disc and drop it off at giant eagle soon.
My mom and step-dad are sick this weekend and so is my step-sister, so no easter bunny for me. no ham for me :o( oh well, i can get some when i grocery shop. i do have little easter bags for the kids though and we will do that next sunday.
My Penguins are in the Playoffs!! woo hoo! THey won their final game last night and the boy, Sidney Crosby, won the Art Ross Trophy. woo hoo! He's up for the hart trophy too...keeping fingers crossed. THey will play the Ottawa Senators in the first round, still don't know if we have home ice advantage or what. that will be decided today. GO PENS!!!!!!! I'm going to be sooo impossible during the playoffs ;o)
Is this enough of an update??
Blessings
